Once we got there and found the perfect camp site, we registered and paid and got going on setting things up. Miri was a huge help in setting up the tent, bedding and getting lunch ready. After enjoying the site all set up, we then headed out on a walk some of the way around the lake and checked out the swimming spot (we didn't jump in though).

While exploring around we found a playground but it was too wet to play on. Miri wasn't all that upset because the whole forrest was really our playground at that point! If we had more time to mess around we'd have gone farther around the lake... we were having a good time.

We didn't want to waste too much time because we had fishing on our minds! Once we were back at the campsite we gathered our fishing gear and walked out to the part of the lake close by. Miri got a worm (she always was the one to get them and bring them to me) and I hooked it on. Obviously I'm not comfortable with Miri hooking the worm herself, but she sure would if I let her! (I really like that she's so comfortable with nature). After a while of both of us taking turns with the rod and getting some bites here and there, I finally felt like I had one hooked and passed the rod to Miri. She reeled it in and I got some pictures of it. Miri then held the fish while I unhooked it, said "bye bye fishie!" and tossed the fish back in. That ended up being the only fish we got that day. It was a fun fishing experience either way.

Once we had fishing out of our system we headed back to the campsite and roasted hotdogs on the campfire for dinner. With the day winding down, what is it that we are suppose to do next? Hmmm... we're camping... got a campfire... oh... some marshmellows, graham crakers and chocolate in a bag. I wasn't really sure what we were suppose to do next but there's NO WAY I was going to forget with Miri there. It was time for SMORES!!! :)

With a fun day behind us, we got cleaned up and ready for bed. It's a wonder we can even get to sleep when sleeping in a tent is SO exciting! :) It didn't get as cold as I thought it would and we both got some great sleep. Next up: Camping for two nights with Jerry and Tricia in two weeks. (Somewhere in the Greers Ferry Lake Area) More pics of this camping trip at www.flickr.com/jwwl .

I'm glad the rain blew on by and you all got camping. The video (on FB) is so cute...she's just so excited.
You all should check out Wholly Hollow up past Conway...we'd driven by it so many times and finally went last year and I thought it was really nice...not too big, camp right by the water...altho Mt. Nebo is my fave AR State Park.
